All MeisterSinger models get their extremely strong personality from rather
subtle stylistic devices: the combination of sober numbering, with a preceding
nought for the units and restrained typography, with the distinctive needle
hands and the agreeably soft form of the case with its convex glass.
Uhrenmagazin comments in this connection on the high degree of appreciation
of the details, which, although they may appear unspectacular in isolation,
together account for the distinctiveness of every MeisterSinger watch.
The hand that shapes the design.
There are many things that a watch may not need to have. Even the dial can
be simpler, as the watch making genius Breguet proved around 1800 when he put
his hour marking on the glass or on a lunette. What must remain, though, is the
hand. In particular when there is only one, it becomes the central focus of the
watch dial. How should such a hand look? There have now been many
interpretations, successful and unsuccessful, that go back to the original
indicator of time, the shadow of a tree. After an extensive search, Manfred
Brassler was suddenly inspired by the sight of a stopwatch. I took up the idea
of its unusually long hand with its elegant overhang. This bold technical
appearance and handsome aspect have now become the characteristics of every
MeisterSinger- watch.
A small step towards subtle symmetry.
One other aspect distinguishes every MeisterSinger – the symmetry of the
dial: The more digits there are in a number, the higher is its value. That is a
simple principle. For a watch it means – assuming one uses Arabian numerals –
that the numbers increase from single digit to double digit figures. That
precisely that imbalance disturbs the symmetry of a watch dial was a key
revelation in terms of design. That is why Manfred Brassler resorted to a slight
trick and placed a zero in front of all the single-figure numerals. The
convincing results made for a harmonious appearance that has become a trade mark
for all MeisterSinger watches.
External clarity – internal quality.
A lot is said about the unusual design of MeisterSinger watches. That is
reason enough to pay some attention to praising the quality of their
craftsmanship. MeisterSinger watches are made to perfection from top quality
materials. Details such as the unusually large, saucer-shaped crown, the
embossed suede strap, the engraved double fold buckle and not least the casing,
made as it is from finely polished 316L stainless steel – nicknamed ”surgeons’
steel” – all these features are a delight to both hand and eye. The latter can
also enjoy the sleek needle hands or the glass back that is standard for the
range and allows you to see deep into the heart of every MeisterSinger watch,
into the finest movement on the market. This too is finished with a craftsman’s
precision to meet the strict demands of the MeisterSinger name.
